Salam.
I watch War Horse today (impromptu as usual) and seriously, this is the best movie for 2012.
Okay, as I am in the mood to tell tale, let me brief you a bit of my day. I accompanied Nita in searching for 'a property' and en route there, we stuck in the heavily congested traffic. And to make matter worse, the weather was so humid we have to manually wind ourselves. Imagine sauna, at noon, in an unmoving car under KL sun for almost an hour. Later we figured that the traffic was because of an accident and instantly felt grateful as we were only stuck and drenched with sweat in the car, not the one laying covered with blood on the road.
And then, War Horse. This movie was beautifully plotted and I guarantee you will instantly fall in love with Joey. Joey is the horse. There are too many good things I want to share about this movie. Steven Spielberg didn't give me any of his moolah for me to write this fyi.
The war was disturbing, and disturbing is understatement for a war. I know my knowledge about war is shallow, but this movie opened my eyes and showed very clearly on how bad the effect of a war could be. To think of been bitten by an ant is agonizing enough, imagine been bombarded with cannon. Joey done the plowing for one whole night and seeing my sleeping pattern (that is always excessive), sheepishness it is.
It was about war, father and son, mother and son, a wife's perseverance, boy with its pet horse, horse bromance with another horse, grandfather and granddaughter, elder brother to younger one, arrogant landlord that lose at the end (serve your right) and last but not least loyalty.
And most of the time if I were not too busy shedding tears (but the sobbing was much louder from my left side, oh I forgot Nita was the only one sitting on my left. I think that explains hahaha), I was in awe of the vivid scenery in this movie. They sure spent a fortune hiring the soldiers and horses.
War Horse is a tearjerking movie. Don't watch with your girlfriend if you were a guy. I've warned you.
Do watch this movie. :)
