Salam.
I am now venturing into something new which is totally unheard of and this foreign links, unlike usual case of me that inclined to discomfort of anything unfamiliar, I can safely say that I enjoy it at this moment.
Let's pray and hope that this creative outlet will always entice me to keep my mind refreshed. :)

Pray Tell
Salam.
Life is totally unpredictable. One unrelated comparison that I can think of at the moment is when I was totally hyped up and running with stable breathing pattern and rhythm, but suddenly my leg failed me with muscle cramp. That, is how unpredictable life is for me and how unprepared I am, everytime.
Allow me to let it sink for a moment, and if I am good to continue, I will, but if my legs require more time to heal, well, I should let them. I am totally inclined to being realistic and practical now.
I can hope, but hope and prayer is all I have.

Pangaea
Salam.
I am grateful, but have you had that moment, one day you woke up thinking that you should be doing something else, elsewhere?
My office job, is the only source of my income now. I am not that adventurous to pack and leave everything behind to pursue what I thought I would enjoy investing my time with. That would be a combination of reading, writing, running, diving, hiking (more like trekking because I enjoy exercise with my lower body more), as well as reading something related with medical because I love knowing something new about our body. Example, why would an aneroxic adult will find the body, especially on arms become more hairy once he or she has become too thin? That is because the insufficient nutrition in his or her resulted to this Lanugo and to keep his or her warm. But this Lanugo will disappear once the body is recovered with improved nutrition.
There was one subject that impact me most from my university time. Maybe not a subject, but a topic called Plate Tectonics. This subject particular highlight ; there was only one continent on Earth many million years ago, supercontinent called Pangaea. There was natural movement involving types of boundary which are divergent, convergent, transform and that supercontinent began to break up, resulting to whatever we can see on world map today.
You can find the video of this theory on Youtube, I still find this theory fascinating up till today.

Salam.
I think, as much as I keep uttering to my friends and to myself that I am very comfortable being alone, I also gain energy when I am with people, my family members and my close friends. This was evident when my friends and I had a girl trip recently. Although 70% of our times together was spent on the couch, chillax and Netflix, but I think my mind was at ease thinking something fun, instead of being pulled to thinking something weird, echoing every insecurities inside my head.
Bye.

Slap
Salam.
If there is one thing that God want to tell me when I have to go for a meeting on the following day, via flight at 6.30 am, so I have to wake up at 4am to get moving to airport at 5 am, were informed at 5pm the day before or 13 hours prior, to have a meeting just in the morning and to overnight there because there is no return flight available for 2 consecutive days, and to go back to town via land transfer that is supposed to take about 6 hours but ended up to 10 hours - is to show me the reality of others.
Their reality involved modest (please imagine modest - modest) house with 7 family members staying in it, with the lawn at most of the neighboring houses a bit flooded from bad drainage system, bad traffic just in front of house because the road's width is only able to cater for one car at a time, the road shoulder are foreign here, and everything so manual, like when we were stucked to move forward because like I mentioned before, most of the road are able to have only one car at a time, the standby driver need to go out to control the other cars, either for stopping the car from other direction from moving forward or to seek understanding from the car behind us to reverse so that we can reverse too, and make way for the car (or cars) on the other direction so that they can move forward, and finally, we can move forward too. That is the kind of austerity that they face on daily basis here.
Having to face this kind of hassle everyday, their work commitment was never affected by this. They even perform and commit better.
Their reality was so different, the not complaining part that amazed me most. I was instantly reminded on how ungrateful a person I am, that keep complaining on petty things like why can't I travel 3 times a year, why can't I buy this and that, why can't I have this thing that I really wanted, the many whys. Oh God, I felt bad knowing this because by now I know how ungrateful I am as a person, but without this kind of experience, I would always think I am the one that always not granted enough. This is like direct reminder from God that, 'Anis, see what others are facing everyday and yet they persevere, how about you?'.
Like Malay wisdom : 'Baru tahu langit tinggi ke rendah'.

Run
Salam.
My 6th book for this year is about Running by Murakami and it was suggested by my dear friend. Boy, I really could relate with both, Murakami and his running preference.
Running was something that I enjoyed doing alone, I don't understand why people don't enjoy it as much as I do but I think people who don't run, on top of despise running are also puzzled with obsession of those who enjoyed running.
Of course my running not as cool and as frequent as full marathoner but that doesn't deny the fact that I always enjoy running. The satisfaction of running, while doing it is best explained by Murakami in his book. When I read that book, I thought, 'yes, I felt that', something like why am I doing this, while prepping my stuff to run but when my body already in running form, all the confusions are gone, almost euphoric.

Pariah
Salam.
I have finished my fifth book in 2019 and the title was 'The Forty Rules of Love'. Usually I got my book recommendation from my friends, or suggestion from Aida Azlin, or from Bill Gates' instagram.
This last book, I can tell that the writer had spent quite a time to study on history and conclude the story. Actually, the conclusion is vague as it lies on what we believe in. The conclusion that a prosecutor hoped for a suspect in a murder case is he should get punished as stated by law. However, for a mother, she would hope that the suspect is not guilty and even if he is, she would hope for the lightest punishment to be concluded for her son.
My take away from this book is try to not punish others, as if we are the God, because we don't know what good others do, or despite whatever we saw on surface, it was very limited as we saw only that, and we are outsiders of the real affair. I believe this has something to do with why Malaysian girls throw or hide their baby from their out of wedlock relationship, because she was so scared about society's backlash as it was very normal for the people in our society to treat them like an outcast and express condescending act towards the unfortunate. Instead of look at them as a lady that commit unacceptable mistake, I think we should look at them as a new mother that need support.

Memento
Salam.
I read ‘How Starbucks Saved My Life’, and I think that this is a lesson that I need, at this very moment.
I can relate this in so many ways especially my take on life. Not to blame anyone in my upbringing, but the situations and environment I have lived in had mould me to think and act in certain ways, and that certain ways were not something that I am proud of now.
I used to think that job somehow defines a person, but upon finishing this book, boy, how naive I was. A job is a job, a mean to survive life, but a work is a work, and work is dignity, like the writer of this book had mentioned. From high level advertising executive in a established company to a Barista at Starbucks, he too had this misconception in life, as he was born with silver spoon, being brought up in a 35 room-mansion, with education was easily accessible for him and all the privileges that came to him from families' connection.
He became arrogant in life, looking at empty symbol as momento of success, treat people he don’t endorsed as he liked, but forgot that he too is subjected to life’s penance. When the table is turned, that was really an eye opener for him. He sees thing as a person, no longer as a man with money, no more clouded by skewed judgement he had before.
I hope that I, we, will not face that kind of incident to come to our senses. I believe that after we were strayed too long from the right path, God will send some storm to clear the way, to help us clear the way because we missed one or two small signs that He had deliberately shown before.
So, job is just a job, but work is dignity.

True Care
Salam.
Why we need to take care of our health?
1. Because it is one of the most easily taken for granted privilege.
2. Because we will never know when our last breath will be, and while we are still in good health, this is our chance to do as many good deeds as possible, as a preparation for the next life. (My religion is the one with afterlife, if yours are without, isn’t be remembered as someone who help a lot is a good thing?)
3. If God permit, one day I will bear a child and I don’t want my consistent decision making of not doing activities that is beneficial to my body, bad food selection and thinking of thoughts that is taxing to my mental health, burden him or her in their life. Let’s assume a case study like he or she is offered to pursue his or her study, but he or she is unable to proceed because of me, bedridden and all. Of course, God’s help come in many ways but it is also part of my responsibility to control things that I can control, so my child can fly higher because I did not get on his or her way.
Of course, there are more on this list, but these are the most relevant reasonings that work for me.

I am having my earphone on while reading something on my laptop, and I realized that when I read, I totally lost on what was I listening to on my earphone.
Is it because I prefer reading over listening, or is it because when we are focus on something, everything else does not matter?

Rat Race

The food that what we consume, the reading materials that we read, the habits that we adopted, all in consistency, are the major contributors that will shape our physical, mind and health. So, I need to always remind myself not to be sold with all the deceiving things that current world offer such as the hype of being rich, pretty and famous, chick-lit, screens that stray away from reality.
Books like 'Kite Runner', 'Room', 'White Tiger', as well as those written by Mitch Albom (Tuesday with Morrie is my favourite) and alike are good investment to see things in real perspective.
Imagine, if you watch the life of Kim Kardashian everyday, soon enough, your mind will be tricked that that is the ideal life to live, the hype, the drama, the deceiving beauty. In the meantime, if you were following news on United Nation, visits that Angeline Jolie went for humanitarian works, you will instantly feel that your life is half full, there are so much to be grateful of but at the same time, there are so much things that you can offer to help others become better, like donation, pray, charity works or etc.
I find watching too much of Kim Kardashian's genre swayed me to feel inadequate and I don't like that.

I believe we are what we think we are, and nothing else matters. But, when I watched the documentary of Ted Bundy on Netflix, my former belief got me confused. He was adamant that he was superior intellectually, and that stem from his success in escaping prison, fooling public with his smooth charisma and he was, no joke, confident that he didn’t do anything wrong, despite evident findings on his brutal acts of murdering countless women. This guy was sick.
So what happen to my belief that we are what we think we are? Erm, I guess we are more of what we do, consistencies in what we hold on and less of self-labelling.

Faint Hope
Salam.
In contrary to my previous post, I am at that state that really want this 'something' to happen, although I heard a 'NO' already as an answer, but there is still faint hope.
Guys, whoever that still read this (although I know, who else still write on the blogpost, right?), please pray that God will grant my wish, prayer is the only way I know can still work and bend this current situation. Thank you.

Young Adult
Salam.
We called ourselves 'Young Adult' because we still live like that, or so we thought.
I believe that everything happened for reason and God's plan was never wrong, but many times when I am confused about things, I started to question and worry on a lot of things, and that was when I need to pull myself back to the belief that I thought I did believe, which is Allah is the best planner. This, make me feel hopeful and loved. You know the smiley emoji with small heart-shapes on it, with the smiley-smiles, that best describes my feeling on Allah is the best planner, that we should not worry if we did our best, and whatever happen, it is for the better, no less.
Till then, bye!

The Highway
Salam.
I watched Netflix series : Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and very inspired by the method she introduced to encourage people to tidying up. It is practical and as I getting adult-er, I prefer not to waste my time locating things, arranging mess and do things that are more impactful in my life such as exercising, reading, socializing and etc.
I noticed the similar patterns on why at their age, with 'their' here referring to families involved in this Netflix series, they were still struggling with tidying up. Their age ranging between late 20s to 60s. Below are my observations :
1. Collector : The fun to collect items, monuments, shoes, clothes because it was part of their identity. As example, I love fashion and by everyone's logic, it would be so wrong for a fashion lover not to have huge collection of clothes.
2. No stop button : It was fun collecting items and see them stacked nicely, although stacked nicely was not always the case. How do we know how much is too much? Most of them realized that they were having trouble with their house not being a home when the boxes and stuff piling up until ceiling.
3. Relying on others to tidy up : It was too obvious during one of the episode in which a family of 4, young parent and 2 teenage kids, the whole responsibility of doing house chores were only shouldered by the mother. The kids and father/husband did not offer to help but it was also resulted from the mother/wife not trusting others to do house chores, it is either mother's way or the highway.
4. I cannot think straight so I just buy all : Some people take the easy way out at the first place due to inability to decide, which later this irresponsible decision resulted to pile of expired foods, unused makeup and unworn clothes.
5. Fear of letting go : There were sentimental items involved. Some need to go because they took too much space with just their mere existence but some of the owner unable to let go the items, so the items, they were just...there...for 30 years...collecting dust...
6. In denial : I thought I am doing okay, until all the items laid altogether in one area and then only realization hits - I do actually have a lot, maybe too much of items that no longer practical to my life in my house.
All in all, this show benefits me in inspiring me to become more responsible of my actions, decisions, purchase which subsequently will effect my quality of life hopefully all for the better.
