It is the Weak Who Are Cruel. Gentleness Can Only be Expected from the Strong.

 Salam.

Hope everyone is well.

I am quite excited to write because I just finished reading one good book and I think I learned a lot from it. Most of the books that I read emphasized common values of be kind to people and be kind first, without expecting anything in return. Certain people assumed that being kind is a sign of weakness and those kind people will easily be manipulated. I beg to differ.

I know a young boss that is not only efficient but is also highly regarded by his subordinate. The most prominent trait is his soft spoken-ness and courteous. He was kind too, to the extent that while discussing, he will be the one that record the minutes, navigating the slides and projecting from his own laptop allowing his subordinate the space to throw and discuss on the ideas. This is uncommon sight to me so it is pleasant to see the shift. In return, his subordinate were productive and work in synergy. There is no trace of this boss being exploited by his staff, just pure admiration. I am totally in agreement with this line saying that ‘It is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong’.

From the same book as well, I was introduced to a better-phrased and well-worded definition of Maturity, in which maturity is the balance between courage and consideration. Courage is required to convey the message and consideration is no less important to ensure message is delivered without burning any bridge or doing any damage.

Another line that I couldn’t agree more is ‘Life of integrity is the most fundamental source of personal worth’.

I hope and pray that integrity will always be the central core of our life, in every aspect regardless the quantum, big or small. It resonates with Surah Al-Zalzalah, ayat 7-8.
